Statue of Geza Hofi
Photography for Arts and Culture Motto of this statue (detail in photo) of Hungarian humorist Géza Hofi could be: ’All the world's a stage’ by William Shakespeare. The two-figure composition was sculpted by Géza Stremeny. It’s found in front of Mikroszkóp Stage, on Pest Broadway, Budapest 6. district. The most famous Hungarian stand-up comedian, Géza Hofi (1936-2002) was appearing here for years. Stremeny Géza ’Színház’ c. alkotása a Pesti Broadway-n, a Nagymező utcában található (a fotón a szobor egyik részlete látható). A több mint 2 méter magas, Hofi Géza humorista tiszteletére készített szobrot 2004 decemberében avatták fel a Mikroszkóp Színpad előtt. A kétalakos kompozíció a színházat jeleníti meg egy ’fordított hamleti képpel’, ahol a halálfejes alak tartja a kezében a humorista fejét. Hofi nagy sikerű ’Hoféliája’ juthat eszünkbe, mivel ő is Shakespeare-re gondolt, amikor címet választott műsorának.
