The grand building in Kossuth Lajos square, in which the Museum of Ethnography was housed, had been originally built for the Ministry of Justice in eclectic style in 1893-1896, according to the plans of Alajos Hauszmann. Inside the building, above your head, is seen a ceiling mural (fresco) by Károly Lotz depicting Lady Justice (Latin: Iustitia) and allegories of justice, peace, sin and retribution (1894). It reminds us of the original function of the building. - This photo was made at the end of November 2017, a few days before the Museum of Ethnography was closed. • Az eredetileg Igazságügyi Palotának szánt Kossuth Lajos téri épület tervezésére Hauszmann Alajos kapott megbízást 1891-ben. Az épület a kiegyensúlyozottság, a vonzó arányok, a gazdag külső és belső ornamentika és nem utolsó sorban Lotz Károly lenyűgöző mennyezeti allegorikus freskója, a ’Justitia diadala’ révén a késő eklektika egyik kiemelkedő alkotása. - A fotó 2017. november végén készült, pár nappal a Néprajzi Múzeum bezárása előtt. |
