Statue of Ferenc Deák
Photography for Arts and Culture The bronze statue of ‘The Wise Man of the Nation’ Ferenc Deák sitting on a chair lies on a high pedestal of granite, flanked with allegorical figures representing Deák’s work and achievements. Due to the death of sculptor Adolf Huszár, Adolf Keszler és Ede Mayer were assigned to complete the monument. The postament is Albert Schickedanz’s work. Deák Ferenc, a haza bölcse halálának évében (1876) már eldöntötték, hogy a tiszteletére emlékművet emelnek. A kiírt pályázat nyertese Huszár Adolf lett. Mivel 1885-ben a szobrász meghalt, a szobor befejezésével Keszler Adolfot és Mayer Edét bízták meg. A talapzat Schickedanz Albert alkotása. A szobor a Schlick-féle öntödében készült.
