Hungarian sculptor Alajos Stróbl's statue of King St. Stephen is seen at Fisherman’s Bastion. The first Christian King of Hungary from 1000 to 1038, who was canonized by Pope Gregory VII in 1083, sits on a horse covered with the coronation cloak. The crown is on his head, double cross in his hand and a gilded glory encompassing his head. The reliefs at the bottom depict significant events of his reign. • Stróbl Alajos Szent Istvánt ábrázoló lovasszobrát látjuk, melynek létrehozásában részt vett Schulek Frigyes, a Halászbástya tervezője, mint építész, valamint bronzöntőként Róna József és Tsa. A királyon palást, fején korona, jobb kezében kettős kereszt van, a ló testét díszes takaró fedi. A király fejét a szentségére utaló glória szegélyezi. (I. Istvánt VII. Gergely pápa avatta szentté I. László király javaslatára 1083-ban.) Az alépítmény oldalain lévő domborművek István uralkodásának kiemelkedő mozzanatait rögzítik. A szobrot 1906-ban avatták fel. |
