Buda Castle Quarter
Photography for Arts and Culture We are in Táncsics Mihály utca (street) running from Hess András tér (square) to Bécsi Kapu tér in Buda Castle Quarter, Budapest 1st district. The houses here were built in Baroque or neo-Classical style. The street bears the name of the famous journalist, Mihály Táncsics (1799-1884), who was a hero of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. - In the middle left we can see the tower of the Lutheran Church of Budavár built in 1895. - Detail of the building of the National Archives is seen on the right. It was built in historical style according to the plans of architect Samu Pecz. A Táncsics Mihály utcában vagyunk, ami a Hess András teret köti össze a Bécsi kapu térrel a Budai Várnegyedben. A 9-11. szám alatti lőportárat a 19. században börtönként is használták, itt raboskodott egy ideig Kossuth Lajos és Táncsics Mihály. 1848-ban rövid ideig Kossuth Lajos utcának nevezték. 1948-tól Táncsics Mihály nevét viseli. - A kép bal középső részén az 1895-ben épült Budavári Evengélikus templom tornyát látjuk. - A Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár központi épületének részletét látjuk a jobb oldalon. Az épület megtervezésére Pecz Samu műegyetemi tanár kapott megbízást 1912-ben. Az akkor már híres építész a nemzetközi trendeket követve historizáló stílust választott.
