Hungarian Parliament, architect: Imre Steindl - Országház - Hungary Culture Photography

This photo was shot from the top of a high building in Kossuth Lajos square. The Hungarian Parliament (in the photo) is situated on the Pest embankment of the Danube. The Parliament of Hungary is hosted in the world's third largest Parliament building. It was built in Gothic Revival (neo-Gothic) style, according to the plans of the famous architect Imre Steindl, between 1885-1904. About 100,000 people were involved in construction, 40 million bricks and 40 kilograms of gold were used. The impressive dome reaches a height of 96 meters. The building was inaugurated in the year of the Millennium in 1896. Unfortunately, the architect did not live to see the Parliament completed (1904), because he died in 1902. ⛳ A fotó egy magas épület tetejéről nézve készült a Kossuth Lajos téren. A Magyar Országház épülete 1885-1904 épült fel Steindl Imre műegyetemi tanár, építész tervei szerint. Az épület külső megjelenésében az 1830-as évek Angliájában kibontakozó ’Gothic Revival’ (neogótikus) irányzathoz köthető. Az Országház egészére leginkább az ú.n. historizáló eklektika jellemző, melyben a neogótikus elemek dominálnak, de helyenként barokk és reneszánsz vonások is jól fellelhetők. (Az eklektika különféle korok, stílusok, irányzatok jegyeit vegyesen alkalmazó művészeti irányzat.) - A tervező Steindl Imre, a 19. század egyik meghatározó építésze élete fő művének teljes befejezését már nem érhette meg, mert 1902-ben meghalt.
