Szentháromság tér Hörger Antal, Ungleich Fülöp, Budai Várnegyed - Trinity sq - Hungary Culture Photography

We are in Szentháromság tér (Trinity square) in Buda Castle Quarter, right next to Matthias Church. At the end of the 17th century the citizens of Buda determined to erect a column here with the aim of thanksgiving for the ending of the plague and protecting them from further outbreaks. In connection with another epidemic broken in 1709 the original column was removed and a bigger and more beautiful Baroque column was decided to be raised. The Holy Trinity Column was inaugurated in 1713. The statues on the top (seen in the photo) were made by sculptor Fülöp Ungleich. The Holy Trinity: the Father with the scepter, the Son holding a cross and over them is the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. ⛳ A Budai Várnegyedben, a Szentháromság téren vagyunk, a Szentháromság oszlop előtt, közvetlenül a Mátyás templom mellett. Az oszlop története több évszázadra nyúlik vissza, amikor az 1691-es pestisjárvány után a budai polgárok hálaadó szobrot állíttattak itt. 1709-ben újabb járvány tört ki, melynek elmúltával a szobrot másik helyre vitték és egy nagyobb, még díszesebb, barokk stílusú – ún. fogadalmi oszlopot – készíttettek két kitűnő szobrásszal, Ungleich Fülöppel és Hörger Antallal. Az emlékművet 1713-ban avatták el. Legfelül a Szentháromság szoborcsoport: (a képen): az Atya a jogarral, a Fiú kezében kereszttel, felettük aranysugarak között, galamb képében a Szentlélek alakja zárja le a monumentális kompozíciót.
