Egri Bazilika homlokzat, Marco Casagrande sculptor - Eger Cathedral - Hungary Culture Photography

The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Apostle, often briefly called Eger Cathedral, is the second largest church in Hungary. The upper part of the main facade is seen in this photo that was shot from the Magic Tower of the Lyceum. The Basilica was built – at the order of Archbishop János László Pyrker – in the style of Neoclassicism. (In Central and Eastern Europe, this style is usually referred to as ‘Classicism’.) The building was designed by József Hild, one of the most famous Hungarian architects in the 19th century. The inscript: ‘DECURSU UNIUS LUSTRI EXSTRUCTA MDCCCXXXVI’ : ‘BUILT IN TIME SPAN OF FIVE YEARS 1836’. - A young, talented sculptor Marco Casagrande was invited from Venice to sculp the statues of the Cathedral. The three statues of ‘Faith-Hope-Love’ standing above the vestibule are Casagrande’s works, just like the angel statues of ‘Truth of God’ and ‘Love of God’ on the two sides. • FULL FACADE ⛳ A fotó az Egri Líceum Varázstornyából készült az Egri Bazilika homlokzatának felső részéről. - Pyrker János László egri érsek (1772 – 1847) határozott szándéka volt, hogy méltó templom épüljön Eger számára. Az 1831 és 1837 között – Hild József tervei alapján klasszicista stílusban – épült Egri Főszékesegyház Magyarország második legnagyobb temploma lett. A képen látható homlokzati rész lévő felirata: ‘DECURSU UNIUS LUSTRI EXSTRUCTA MDCCCXXXVI’ : ‘ÖT ÉV LEFOLYÁSA ALATT FELÉPÍTVE 1836’. - A szobrokat, domborműveket az érsek által Magyarországra hívott fiatal, tehetséges olasz szobrász, Marco Casagrande készítette. A homlokzat tetején a ‘Hit-Remény-Szeretet’ hármas csoport látható. Két oldalon áll az ‘Isteni Igazság’ és ‘Isteni Szeretet’ angyal szobrok. • A TELJES HOMLOKZAT
