The memorial of Raoul Wallenberg was sculpted by Imre Varga and erected on Szilágyi Erzsébet fasor (alley) in 1987. A detail of the statue composition is seen in the photo. - The Swedish architect, businessman, diplomat and humanitarian Wallenberg (1912–1945) saved many Jews in German-occupied Hungary during the later period of WWII. While serving as Sweden’s special envoy in Budapest in the second half of 1944, he issued protective passports and hid Jews in buildings designated as Swedish territory. ⛳ A Szilágyi Erzsébet fasornál járunk Budapest 2. kerületében, Pasaréten. Itt állították fel Raoul Wallenberg emlékművét, Varga Imre szobrász alkotását 1987-ben. A szobor kompozíció egyik részlete látható a képen. - A gazdag és befolyásos svéd nagytőkés családba született – diplomata humanitárius – Wallenberg a második világháború utolsó éveiben zsidók ezreit mentette meg a deportálástól Magyarországon. 2003-ban a Fővárosi Közgyűlés Budapest posztumusz díszpolgárává avatta.
