Having visited the exhibition of Karolina Sávolt in Bodó Gallery at the end of April we walked to Kossuth Lajos square. This photo was shot by my grandson Miró. - The Hungarian Parliament is hosted in the world’s third largest Parliament building. It was built in a Gothic Revival (neo-Gothic) style, according to the plans of Imre Steindl drawing inspiration from London’s Houses of Parliament. The grand dome reaches a height of 96 meters. The building was inaugurated in the year of the Millennium in 1896, and completed in 1904. - ‘I didn’t want to create a new architectural style for the Parliament, because I couldn’t balance a building that has to stand for hundreds of years with ephemeral details. I have tried modestly and carefully, as is required by art, to bring a national and unique spirit to this magnificent medieval style. …’ – Imre Steindl said upon accepting his academic chair. - Unfortunately, the architect did not live to see the Parliament completed, because he died two years earlier. ⛳ Miután megnéztük Sávolt Karolina kiállítását a Bodó Galériában, a Kossuth Lajos térre sétáltunk, ahol Miró unokám lőtt egy képet az Országházról. A grandiózus épület Steindl Imre építész, műegyetemi tanár tervei szerint készült 1885-1904 között. Külső megjelenésében az 1830-as évek Angliájában kibontakozott ‘Gothic Revival’ (neogótikus) irányzathoz köthető. Mind külső összhatásában, mind belső kialakításában a 19-20. századforduló európai építészetének kiemelkedő alkotása. - ‘Én az Új Országházzal új stílust nem akartam teremteni, mert kőbe alkalmazható építészeti formáink nemzeties jellegének nyoma sincs sehol, s egy ilyen századokra szóló monumentális épületet ephemer [a szerk.megj.: tiszavirág életű] részletekkel nem kezelhettem, hanem igenis arra törekedtem, hogy a középkornak e remek stílusába szerény módon, óvatosan, mint azt a művészet mindenkor okvetlenül megkívánja, nemzeti és egyéni szellemet hozzak be. …’ – mondta akadémiai székfoglalójában Steindl Imre.
