Országház, díszlépcsőcsarnok - Ornamental stairs by Imre Steindl - Hungary Culture Photography

We are in the Hungarian Parliament building, at the ornamental stairs flanked by deep red granite columns, originated from Sweden, all cut from the same cliff. The building is located in Kossuth Lajos square in Budapest 5. district. It was built in Gothic Revival (neo-Gothic) style, according to the design of architect Imre Steindl, between 1885-1904. It has a symmetrical facade and a central dome. The parliament has two identical halls. One, in the southern wing, was the Deputy Council Chamber, now the sessions of the Hungarian National Assembly are held here. The other, in the northern wing, formerly was the House of Magnates (Főrendiház) and now it is open for guided tours and conferences. It is called Congress Hall. ⛳ A Magyar Országház díszlépcső csarnokánál állunk. Az épület 1885-1904 között készült el Steindl Imre tervei szerint. Külső megjelenésében az 1830-as évek Angliájában megjelenő ’Gothic Revival’ (neogótikus) irányzathoz köthető. Az Országház egészére leginkább az ún. historizáló eklektika jellemző, melyben a neogótikus elemek dominálnak, de helyenként barokk és reneszánsz vonások is fellelhetők. - Steindl Imre, a 19. század egyik legmeghatározóbb építésze élete fő művének teljes befejezését (1904) már nem érhette meg, mert 1902-ben meghalt.
